What is soil?
Ans.
The upper most layer of the earth is called soil.
2: How
is soil formed?
Ans.
Soil is formed by broken pieces of rocks and decayed dead bodies of plants and
animals.
3:
Rocks often seem to be very hard, then how do they under go breakage?
Ans.
Severe weather conditions such as sun shine; snow fall, heavy rains, typhoon
etc. cause breakage in rocks called weathering.
4: What
is importance of soil?
Ans. Soil is important for us as;
♣ It
is growing medium for the plants.
♣It is
habitat for many organisms.
♣Soil
prevent flooding as it soaks up water.
5: If
there is no soil we will get deprived of leather, wool, meat along with
vegetables and fruits. Why it is said so?
Ans.
We get leather, wool and meat from animals, as they do depend upon plants.
Indirectly we depend upon plants. Then obviously, if there is no soil that is
growing medium for plants we will have nothing.

What is Humus? Give its importance in soil?
Ans.
Decayed dead bodies of animals and plants. It makes the soil fertile.
