GIVE
ANSWERS TO FOLLOWING:
1: On
the basis of eating habits, how are living things classified?
Ans. Living things are classified as:
a) Producer b) Consumer
Ans. Living things are classified as:
a) Producer b) Consumer
2: Why are plants called “producers’?
Ans. Plants are called producers because they can produce their own food
by photosynthesis.
Ans.
Photosynthesis is a process by which plants can make their own food using
carbon dioxide, water and sun light in the presence of chlorophyll.
4:
What materials do plants need for photosynthesis?
Ans. Plants need;
♣ Carbon dioxide (from air)
♣
Water (from soil)
♣Energy (from sunlight)
5: Is
process of photosynthesis possible, without chlorophyll? Justify.
Ans. Chlorophyll captures sun light to combine
carbon dioxide and water during photosynthesis. If there is no chlorophyll
photosynthesis is not possible.
6: Why are leaves the best location for
photosynthesis?
Ans. Leaves are the best location for photosynthesis for the following
reasons;
♣ Leaves are broad and flat to absorb maximum sun light.
♣ Leaves are thin to allow light to go to inner cells.
♣ Leaves have a network of veins to conduct water, mineral salts from
roots to leaves while prepared food away from them.
7: What
are consumers?
Ans. Consumers consume the food prepared by producers, they cannot
produce food themselves. For example human, animals, etc.
8: How
do consumers consume food prepared by producers?
Ans. Consumers consume this
prepared food usually in two ways;
♣ Direct
♣ Indirect
9: What
is being shown in the following?
10: What
do we call the path way along which energy flow in a habitat? Show your answer
with a simple example.
Ans. The path along which energy flows in a habitat is called Food
Chain.
11:
From where do all food chains start?
Ans. All of the food chains start from producers (plants).
12:
What captures the sun energy first in a food chain?
Ans. Green plants capture the sun energy first.
