CORRUPTION

CORRUPTION

INTRODUCTION:

                          At present everything is fast and making progress. With this fast advancement corruption has become a world problem. It is in fact a universal problem having existed in all ages.
It is said that;
                              “It has clung to mankind like an incurable disease.”

 REASONS:

                     The true reason for corruption is a desire to
get rich by hook or by crook. Originally the police and P.W.D were blame for corruption but know this evil spread all over almost every department of government. Even courts of justice and education are no exception. They have also become the arena of corruption.

EFFECTS ON SOCIETY:

                                    Widespread of corruption has created disappointment and discontents among the community. The machinery of government gets rusted and starts working in intended manner.  
Ø  Corruption decreases respect for law and government.
Ø  The distinction between right and wrong disappears.
Ø  Revolution and military take over become common.
Ø  Every student of history knows that one of the main causes of downfall is corruption.
v  How can we remove corruption??
                             To remove corruption from the society, a complete change of the political, social and economic system is necessary. No revision of pay scales, however, liberal can reduce corruption. The reason is that the wealth targets aimed at by corrupt officials are very high.
Ø  Similarly a mere change in the government is quite ineffective.
Ø  The new government has to rely on permanent services for its day to day administration. Unless the motive or inducement for corruption is removed, corruption will continue.
Following steps may be of some use.
Ø  First, wide discretionary powers should be taken away from individual officials.
Ø  Second, anti-corruption department should be made more effective.
Ø  Thirdly, the minds of people should be changed by the prevalence of moral values.

Ø  Finely, the law-breakers should be punished severely and dealt with iron hand.
