as a necessity of modern life. With the growth of literacy and the development
of the means of communication, media is playing very important role in society.
As “Every picture has two sides.”Media also has its uses and abuses.
The uses of media are so numerous. First,
media keeps us in touch with the current world affairs. Without radio,
newspaper, TV, internets etc we can’t know the important news of even our own
towns or villages. They extent our knowledge and make us feel that we are the
part of this fast changing world.

and newspapers are in touch with the different parts of the world through their
certain agencies, their reporters and anchors. They supply them news from every
part of the world.
Secondly, a
great deal of information is supplied to us through media. Important decision
of laws court are puplished and aired from radio for the benefits of the
lawyers .the sport man find in them the news of their own interestand
liking.Comercial news are broabcast for businessman .Lovers of the radio, the
cinema and television can look up in them the daily programs of these
entertainments .the advertisement help the people to by things.the unemployed
can look for the wanted coloumns for vacant jobs.Thirdly, through media people
can give their opinions.thus media keep public and government in close
contect.the current problems of political and social values are the subject
matters of the leading articles of newspapers and news on TV and radio.
Public get
aware of the policies and scheme of the government through media.Fourthly, the
media is the source of entertainment.in weekly editionsof newspapers we have
stories, poems, poetry, articles of general interest. On television we enjoy
serial ,play and sometime good films. Various channels of TV provide lassical
films.
Lastly media
have their educative value also.it is said by a critic
“readers of the good newspaper and viewers of
TV are more intelligent, active and better informed than scolar .”

We can also

come toknow about scientific discoveries and research. There are useful
articles on every topic.
Abuses:
It is said
by a critic that “these are double edged weapons and cut both ways.”The media
can do harm a lot also. By publishing and airing false news .They can mislead
the people. They can make the people nervous and excited by sensational news
about strike public riots and war. They
can set against one community to other but broadcasting or publishing
exaggerated accounts of communal riots.they can do irreparable harm.Sometime
persons working for newspaper or TV are pressurized by mischievious people and
become me-re tools in their hands.By printing and presenting obscene
advertisement and naked portrait and love stories ,they can be a danger to
morals of the people especially young generation.
Their
inflammatory articles widen the gulf between the various nations of the world.
