7 What is the function of red blood cells?
Ans Red blood cells transport oxygen around the body.
8 What is the function of muscles cells?
Ans Muscles cells contract and bring about movement.
9 Name the scientist which uses the term cell for the first time?
Ans Robert Hooke in 1665 uses the term cell for the first time.
10 What is a microscope?
Ans Microscope is an instrument which is used to see very small things that cannot be seen with naked eye.
11 Name different parts of the microscope.
Ans A microscope has an eye piece, a base, an arm, a tube, a stage, two adjustment screws, objective lens ,a mirror.
12 What is eyepiece?
Ans The end of the tube through which we observe an object is called an eyepiece.
13 What is objective lens?
Ans The lens near the object to be seen is called an objective lens.
14 From which material cell wall is made of?
Ans Cell wall is made of cellulose.
15 What is the function of cell membrane?
Ans The cell membrane controls the movement of materials in and out of the cell.
16 What is the function of pores present in cytoplasm?
Ans These pores help in the movement of material into and out of the cell.
17 What is cytoplasm?
Ans Jellylike material present inside the cell membrane is called cytoplasm.
18 What is the function of nucleus?
Ans Nucleus controls all the activities of the cell.
19 What is the function of chromosomes?
Ans Chromosomes pass on the characteristics of the cell to the new cells.
20 How many chromosomes are present in a human cell?
Ans A human cell has 46 chromosomes.
21 What happen to a cell if we removed its nucleus?
Ans If nucleus is removed there will be no activity in the cell.
22 What is the function of endoplasmic reticulum?
Ans The movement of materials in the cell takes place through the endoplasmic reticulum.
23 What is the  function of mitochondria?
Ans Mitochondria are cell parts that provide energy to the cell.
24 VWhat is the function of chloroplasts?
Ans They trap energy from the sun plants use the energy to make food.
25 What is the function of vacuoles?
Ans In plant cells a single large vacuole is present, but in animal cells many and small vacuoles are present.
26 What is the function of centrioles?
Ans They play an important role in animal cell division.
27 What is difference between plant and animal cells?
                        Plant cell Animal cell
Cell wall is present    Cell wall is absent
Nucleus lies near the side of cell wall     Nucleus lies in the center of cell wall
Single large vacuole is present     Many small vacuoles are present
Chloroplasts are present     Chloroplasts are absent
Centrioles are absent      Centrioles are present
28 What are unicellular organisms?
Ans The living organisms made of only one cell are called unicellular organisms.
29 What are multicellular organisms?
Ans The living organisms made of more than one cell are called multicellular organisms.
30 What is tissue?
Ans A group of cell performing  same function is called a tissue.
31 Name some plant tissues.
Ans Epidermal tissue  , Xylem tissue , Phloem tissue , Mesophyll tissue
32 What is the function of epidermal tissue?
Ans Epidermal tissue covers the roots, stem and leaves of the plant.
33 What is the function of xylem tissue?
Ans Xylem tissue conducts water and dissolved salts from roots to the leaves.
34 What is the function of phloem tissue?
Ans Phloem tissue carries prepared food from leaves to other parts of the plants.
35 What is the function of mesophyll tissue?
Ans Mesophyll tissues present in leaves make food for the plant.
36 What is an organ?
Ans An organ is a group of different tissues which work together.
37 Name some plant organs.
Ans Leaf, flower, root etc
36 What is the function of leaves?
Ans Leaves made food.
37 What is the function of flowers?
Ans Flowers produce seeds. Seeds grow to produce new plants.
38 What is the function of roots?
Ans Roots hold the plant in the soil. Roots also absorbs water and salts for the plant.
39 Name some animal organs.
Ans Heart, tongue, liveretc.
40 What is the function of the heart?
Ans The heart pumps the blood in blood vessels which carry it to all parts of the body.
41 What is the function of the tongue?
Ans Our tongue is an organ which tastes food and help in digestion of food.
42 What is the function of the liver?
Ans Liver helps in digestion of food. it also performs many other important functions.
43 Define an organ system?
Ans An organ system is a group of organs which work together.
44 Name major organ systems in plants.
Ans Root system and shoot system.
45 What is root system?
Ans The root and its branches form the root system.
46 What is shoot system?
Ans The parts of the plant outside the ground forms shoot system. It consists of main stem, leaves, branches and flowers.
47 Write functions of shoot system.
Ans Shoot system performs many functions such as movement of water, food making and producing seeds.
48 Name some human organ system.
