IF I WERE BORN AGAIN.
IF I WERE BORN AGAIN.
sometimes i have the desire to be born again into in dis world.then i began magining what kind of person i would like to be if i really have another life.
i have done some very creditable things in my life. However, i have also comitted mistakes like all human beings. If i come to have another life, i would surely like to do better.
Firstly, i would like to do some good things of my
life again.for example, i would like to have the habit of speaking truth in all circumstances.I would like to have my habit of helping other people in difficulty.I would like to obtain all the knowledge i have acquired untill now.
In my new life,i would like to learn other languages beside english.I would desire to become a great writer, scholar and leader of my life.I would learn about the social, economic and political conditions in different parts of world.
I feel it is rather foolish to have all the ideas about my life after a second birth. I may still live for a great deal of time in this world. it may b better for me to think about it more nd make ny life better here. The present is in my hands, the future is a dream.
THE EID
THE EID
The eid is a great
Muslim festival. It is a day of endless rejoicing. It is celebrated with great
pomp and show. The Muslims go to the eidgah in their best clothes. They say the
eid prayer. They embrace one another, when it is over. They also visit their
friends and relatives. They entertain their guests very hospitably. Children
receive eid presents in the form of money from their elders. They wait for this
day with great joy and are sorry when it passes away so soon!
THE BULLOCK-CART
THE BULLOCK-CART
The bullock-cart is a popular means of conveyance in rural areas. It is
also used for carrying heavy loads from one place to another. It is still found
in such big cities as Lahore and Karachi. It is drawn by oxen. It moves slowly
along the road, creaking and jolting. It has no roof to protect the carter or
the load, from rain or sunshine. The villagers can’t help making use of it for
taking their families from one place to another. It is, no doubt, a very useful
thing.
THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A DONKEY
THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A DONKEY
I am a donkey. I was
born in the house of potter. I played about on the dunghills, till I was seven
months old. Then, one day, he loaded fifty pots on my back and took me to the
market. My ribs began to ache. I tried to sit for a while. But he beat me with
the thick stick, and I had to move on. In fact I was too weak to serve him. So
he sold me to a washer man. My new master was equally cruel and hard-hearted.
He also felt me to be too weak to be of any service to him. He, therefore, sold
me to a sweeper. Now I have to carry heaps filth from one place to another.
This life is very pitiable, and I long for death!
THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A BEGGAR
THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF
A BEGGAR
I am the happiest soul
on earth. I have no body to look after, no body to feed and no work to do. I
have no cares and no worries. I get up when I like, and I sleep where I please.
I get all I need, simply for the asking. All that I have to do is to approach
the right person. And I know how to hypnotize him (her). My lifelong experience
in this line has taught me the art of successful begging. I know what to say at
a particular moment and to whom. My pockets are always full, for mine is the
most profitable profession!

A RAINY DAY
A RAINY DAY
It was 17th of July. There was no stir in the air. The earth
seemed to be burning. Everybody perspired from head to foot. All of a sudden,
dark clouds appeared from the north. They covered the sky in no time. Before
long, it began to rain very heavily. The streets were soon full of water. The
rain stopped after a couple of hours. The air became cool; and the weather,
very pleasant. A rainbow appeared in the sky. The trees and their leaves began
to glitter like pieces of green glass. But some old houses fell down, and their
inmates received serious injuries. Despite all that, it was a day of merry

The comforts of modern living cannot be thought of without electricity.
Since its very invention in
THE BICYCLE
THE BICYCLE
The bicycle is rightly called the poor man’s carriage. It is ever ready to
take us, wherever we like. The journey may be long or short, but the expenses
will be nothing. It can safely take us through crowded streets and narrow
lanes. It can go as far as we can take it. It can help us cover about a hundred
miles a day.
THE AEROPLANE
THE AEROPLANE
The aero plane
is a wonderful invention. It marks the conquest of air by man. It is useful
both in war and peace. It is the quickest means of travelling from one place to
another. It covers in hours the distance that a railway train or a stream ship
would cover in days. It carries not only goods and passengers but also mail. It
gives man the joy of flying like a bird in the air. If the engines get out of
order, it has to land, wherever it can. But if it can’t, it crashes, and the
passengers are all burnt to death.
SCENE AT A RAILWAY STATION
SCENE AT A RAILWAY STATION
A railway station is a place of great
interest. Vendors are in a hurry to sell different things. Passengers push one
another in trying to detrain or entrain. But, before long, the engine whistles,
the guard gives the signal and the train begins to move. In this way, the
trains go on arriving and depart in, throughout the day and the night. It
presents a scene of great hustle and bustle, when a train arrives. But it looks
almost deserted, after her departure.
OUR TUCK-SHOP
OUR TUCK-SHOP
We have a nice tuck-shop in our school. It has three rooms. One is for
preparing sweets. The second is for keeping these in glass-cupboards. The third
is for serving these things on tables before the customers. It is always a
pleasure to go there. It is run by a young man of very clean habits. He sells
fruits, sweets, eggs, aerated water, milk, tea, butter-milk and what not. His
charges are very moderate.
OUR SCHOOL PEON
OUR SCHOOL PEON
Fazal-i-Ilahi is our school peon. He
is nearly fifty years old. He comes to school two hours before it opens. He
supervises the work the work of the sweeper and the water carrier. He cleans
our desks and chairs with great care. He rings the bell. He sits on a stool beside
the headmaster’s office. He circulates orders amongst the teachers. He looks
after the school property. We tip him on many happy occasions.
OUR BICYCLE STAND
OUR BICYCLE STAND
There is a bicycle stand in our school. It is beside the tuck shop. Its
floor is made of bricks. It has a roof to protect the bicycles from rain and
sunshine. It has a guard to look after them. We are required to lock our
bicycles. And we can’t take them away during the school hours. It has a wall
and Iron Gate in front of it. The guard gives a number to every student who
goes in with his bicycle. And this number is to be returned to him, when the
bicycle is brought out.

MY QUARREL WITH A CLASS-FELLOW
I was late to school one day. A class
fellow of mine was occupying my seat. I requested him to leave it, but he
called me names. I told him to hold his tongue. But he gave me a slap on my
face. I fell upon him, and we began to exchange kicks and blows. All of a
sudden a teacher entered our classroom. He sent us to the headmaster. He heard
us both and then said to me, “Akbar is at fault, no doubt; but why did you beat
him yourself? You are both very naughty.” He gave us four cuts on the palm of

MY NATIVE TOWN
Kasur in my native town. It is an
important center of trade and industry. Its population is over 75,000. It is
famous for its sweet smelling maithi and the shrine of hazrat Baba Bulhey shah.
It has got much cotton –ginning and pressing factories. It has also got a
college and four High schools for boys and girls. Most of its streets are quite
neat and clean. Most of its houses are airy and well-lighted. Though only
twelve miles from the Indian border, it is progressing by leaps and bounds.

My house is situated in the heart of city. It has
three stories and twelve rooms, excluding the bath and the kitchen. It is

room has a very big carpet, a dewan and a pair of sofa-sets in it. It is
decorated with portraits of Quaid-e-azam, the Quaid-e-millat, Allama Iqbal and

MY HOBBY
MY HOBBY
A friend of mine presented 100
postage stamps to me on my eleventh birthday. I then, began to take interest in
the collection of used stamps. I started removing these from letters of my
uncles living in Iran, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. I made pen-friends in England,
America, turkey, china, U.S.A. and Africa. I began exchanging the stamps of
Pakistan with those of other countries. My album, now, contains more than two
thousand stamps of 37 countries. I feel very proud of my collection.
MY FAVOURITE GAME
MY FAVOURITE GAME
Football is my favorite game. I took
a fancy to it, when I was only ten. It is neither costly nor dangerous. Its
playground is 130 yards long and 50 yards broad. It requires twenty- two
players. There are five forwards, three half-backs, two backs and a goal-keeper
on either side. The game starts with a whistle of the referee, from the middle
of the playground. He sees that the two teams play the game fairly according to
its rules. The side that scores more wins the match.
MY FAVOURITE BOOK
MY FAVOURITE BOOK
I have read and enjoyed many books. But none of these has delighted me more
than the Bang-i-Dara. It is a collection of early Urdu poems of Allama Iqbal.
Some are very short and simple. Others are very long and difficult. But they
are full of deep meaning. I like shikwa and jawab-i-shikwa most. Some poems
remind us of our glorious past. Others explain to us the real aim of life.

MY DAILY PROGRAMME
I try my best to be a good student. I
get up a couple of hours before sunrise. I take a bath, say the Morning Prayer,
and read a page or two from the Holy Quran. I leave for school soon after
having my breakfast. Different teachers teach us different subjects in
different periods. I return home, when the school is over. I have my meal and
take rest for an hour or so. I sit at my table to do the home work and to
revise my lessons. I go to the playground at 5 p.m. I return home after saying
the evening prayer. I take my dinner, chat with my parents and listen to the
radio for some time. Then I attend to my studies and offer the last prayer of
the day, before I go to bed.

HOW TO PREPARE TEA
I place a kettle half full of water on well-lit fire. I wait, till the water
begins to boil. I pour an ounce of it in the teapot and shake it well, in order
to warm it up. After that, I put into it as many teaspoonful of tea leaves as
the tea cups I require. Then I poured the required amount of boiling water over
these leaves. I add a teaspoonful of sugar to it, stir it up and place the lid
over it. After two minutes the brewage is ready for use. I pour it into the
tea-cups and add milk and sugar to taste.

HOW TO POLISH A PIAR OF SHOES
First of all, I remove all dirt and dust by
means of a hard brush. Then I apply the polish evenly over the upper part of
the shoes and the edges of the soles. After that, I put my right hand into a
shoe, and rubber its upper surface with a soft brush. The more I do so, the
brighter it looks. I do the same with the second shoe. Last of all I rub the
shoes all over with a piece of flannel. In this way I remove extra polish to
save my pants or trousers from being spoilt.

HOW TO MEND A PUNCTURE IN A FOOTBALL
HOW
TO MEND A PUNCTURE IN A FOOTBALL
If
my football gets punctured, I take the bladder out of its cover and inflate it
a little. I dip it into a tub of water and press it to find out the hole. I
mark that place with a copying pencil. Then I let the air out, dry the bladder
up, and rub the marked place as well as a rubber-piece with a sand paper. I
apply rubber solution to both and let them dry a little. After a while, I place
a rubber piece on the bladder and press the two very hard. The puncture is thus
mended, and the bladder is ready for use again.
HOW TO MEND A PENCIL
HOW TO
MEND A PENCIL
I hold the pencil in my left hand and place one of its ends along my index
finger. I hold it fast with the rest of my fingers and press it with my thumb.
Then I begin to cut the wood, bit by bit, with a sharp pen knife. I turn the
pencil round and round to cut it on all sides. I go on cutting it, till the
lead appears. Then I become very cautious. I cut the lead to a fine point and
pencil is ready for use.
HOW TO MAKE FIRE
HOW TO MAKE FIRE
I put together few pieces of paper, torn
cardboard or dry sticks, one upon another. On the top of these, I place some
thinner sticks; and around these, one or two long and thick pieces of wood.
Then I strike a match to apply its little flame to the pieces of paper or
cardboard. They catch fire. I fan the flame and the fire begins to spread.
Before long the thick pieces of wood catch fire. I can, now, cook or boil or
fry anything on the fire thus made.

HOW TO TIE A TURBAN
HOW TO TIE A TURBAN
I stand in front of a mirror and hold one end of
the turban between my teeth. I fold it gently with my hand and wrap it once
round the kullah on my head. I, then, tie one fold over the other and continue
making the fold even. At last a short end is left over. I press it into the
hollow part on the top to complete the process. I give the turban a few
finishing touches in order to add its beauty.
