A RIVER IN FLOOD
There were heavy rains on the hills in august last. The water in the Ravi
began to rise after a couple of days. Within a few hours it exceeded 20 feet at
the shahdara railway bridge. There was a great alarm in the city. All schools,
colleges and offices were closed before noon. The flood water entered he low
lying areas at 9 a.m. thousands of people left their homes. Others shifted
themselves and their belongings to the roofs of their houses. This was the
severest flood in living memory. Nearly a thousand houses collapsed and many
more were damaged very badly. May god save us from such calamities in future!
Amen!
