A VISIT TO A HISTORICAL PLACE

A VISIT TO A HISTORICAL PLACE

We paid a visit to the tomb of Jahangir one day. A wonderful scene met our eyes, as we entered the main gate. A majestic marble building stood in the middle of vast
well-kept garden. In it there were row of Cyprus trees and beautiful flower beds. Fountains played in a tank as well as in the one foot deep and four feet wide canals running between the footpaths. We walked about for some time and then we entered the marble building to have a look at the grave of a great Mughal emperor, Jahangir. We prayed for him before we come out. At every corner of this building stands a beautiful minaret. We went up one of these. We were surprised to see only three minarets of badshahi mosque. We came down after a few minutes and returned home full of great praise for the wonderful skill of the Mughal engineers of the past.

  1. Emperor Jahangir has a charm and that why travelers want to visit this tomb where I also visited before boston niagara falls tour. Although contemporary court accounts credit Shah Jahan with the building of his father's tomb, it is more likely to have been the result of Noor Jahan's vision. The combination of red Sikri stone and white marble, an arrangement resounding Humayun's tomb in Delhi, and a rare treat for Lahore not least for its elaborate piece, is impressive in its finesse and superiority.
